Sustainability
We prepare the soil not for the next harvest, but for the next generation.
Water
All of our orchards use drip irrigation. Water is delivered drop by drop to the root zone; far less is needed than with flood irrigation, and little is lost to evaporation. We time irrigation by soil moisture, not by the calendar.
Soil
We use no synthetic fertiliser and no chemical pesticides. Organic matter is returned to the soil through our animals' manure and through pruning residue. Growing crops and raising animals on the same land makes this possible: what one produces, the other needs.
Packaging
Our juice comes in glass. Unlike plastic, glass transfers nothing to its contents and can be recycled indefinitely. Our caps are BPA free.
Animal welfare
Our flock spends most of the year on pasture. We do not practise confined feeding. When supplementary feed is needed, it is grown on our own land.
People
The harvest season is short and intense. During it we provide accommodation and meals for everyone working with us, and we employ no child labour.
